Infant airlifted to hospital after medical emergency at Walmart

    2024-03-30

A 5-month-old baby was rushed to the hospital in Atlanta after a medical emergency at Walmart in Cornelia Friday afternoon.

Around 1:12 p.m., public safety personnel from Cornelia and Habersham County responded to a call from the store about an unconscious person who was not breathing.

“Cornelia police officers got on scene prior to our arrival and brought the child to the med unit,” said Cornelia Fire Chief Billy Joe Jenkins Jr. “We immediately began care and rushed the child to the Habersham County Airport near Baldwin.”

An Air Life Georgia medical helicopter flew the infant to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

Authorities did not release any other details about the incident.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by today’s emergency,” Jenkins said.
