Easter Shooting in Toccoa Under Investigation

State and local authorities are investigating an early morning shooting on Easter Sunday in Toccoa. The shooting left two people injured.

According to police, shots rang out on Whitman Street shortly after midnight. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting local law enforcement with their investigation.

"Two people were shot, taken to the hospital for medical treatment, and released," GBI Director of Public Affairs Nelly Miles tells Now Habersham.

Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize told local reporters one of the victims was shot in the stomach and the other in the chest.

Police have not released any other details or a motive for the shooting. There is no word on whether any arrests have been made. Miles says the investigation is active and ongoing.
