    2024-04-15

A 22-year-old woman died when the pickup truck she was driving left the roadway and crashed into a tree, the Georgia State Patrol says. The fatal single-vehicle wreck happened near 2550 Crane Mill Road in Alto on Sunday, April 14.

According to Habersham County Public Information Officer Rob Moore, Habersham County E-911 received an automatic crash notification from the wrecked Ford Ranger just before 12:15 p.m. Sunday.

The Habersham County Coroner’s Office also responded. Coroner Kasey McEntire identified the victim as Chloe Smith Williams of Alto.

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends at this difficult time,” McEntire stated.

Law enforcement closed Crane Mill Road between Mud Creek and Coon Creek Road while state troopers investigated the accident. The road reopened just after 2:15 p.m.
