State troopers charged a Winder man after they say he rear-ended two motorcycles near Clayton Wednesday morning, seriously injuring one of the bikers.

According to the Georgia State Patrol’s preliminary investigation, 27-year-old Romello Wilborne was driving a Dodge Charger north on GA 15/US 441 behind the motorcycles. Troopers say he was following too closely and struck them in the rear with the front of his vehicle.

The State Patrol says the crash's impact caused the motorcycles to overturn. 65-year-old George Dinwiddie of Tennessee suffered a serious heady injury, according to the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office. Emergency personnel transported him to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

The other biker, 68-year-old Martin Bailey, also of Tennessee, complained of an injury, the accident report states. Wilborne and a passenger in the car were unharmed.

The crash happened around 9:30 a.m. at the entrance to Walmart outside of Clayton, temporarily shutting down the northbound lanes.

According to GSP, troopers charged Wilborne with driving on a suspended license and following too closely.

always keep an eye out for bikers. always give them room. they are not protected inside a vehicle like a motorist. on a side note, this just goes to show that cops are no less criminal than a criminal, because they'll hit someone on a motorcycle if they think they are justified in doing so, which they think they are. that makes them no less criminal (when they commit that act) than this guy they charged. I'm just thankful he didn't kill anyone.
