Teen arrested in deadly Memorial Day shooting

16-year-old suspect charged with murder

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department has arrested a teenager in connection to the shooting death of a 20-year-old Athens man on Memorial Day. Police charged 16-year-old Zyquavious Thomas with felony murder, attempted armed robbery, and aggravated assault in the death of Cameron Manago.

The shooting happened on May 27 at around 10:25 p.m. at the Rolling Ridge Apartments, says Athens-Clarke County Police Lt. Jody Thompson.

She says officers responded to a report of a shooting at the apartment complex and found Manago with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
