Food Trucks + Beer + Great Weather = Anoka’s Food Truck Festival
It's the seventh year that Anoka is hosting its food truck festival and this year the weather looks FANTASTIC for anyone heading to enjoy the great eats, and beverages offered this year. In addition to the 50+ food trucks expected to attend, there will also be live music for folks to enjoy. Here's what we know so far about this weekend's festival:
Swan mural adds color downtown

Maple Grove’s First-Ever ‘Restaurant Week’ Excited to Grow
As Maple Grove’s first ever “Restaurant Week” comes to a close, restaurant owners are calling it a success. “We had a lot of fun this week,” said A.J. Stevens, owner of Malone’s Bar & Grill. “Started off Monday with live music, kids’ night Tuesday, Wednesday we had a beer dabbler for our patio night. It’s been fantastic. We’ve seen a lot more people.”
An adaptive animal science experience for youth with disabilities
The Anoka County 4-H development program partnered with the Anoka County Fair to offer “Fair Buddies,” an inclusive and adaptive animal science experience for youth with disabilities. On Thursday, July 25, eight youth with disabilities were partnered with a 4-H mentor and their animals. 4-H mentors shared their animals with youth and taught them about their animals’ care including grooming, feeding and safety. Big Eagle Lake’s 6th Annual ‘Smokin’ Pulled Pork Cook-Off’ is another ‘Smokin’ Success’!
Thanks go out to everyone who came out to Lupulin Brewing last Saturday for a wonderful event!. The Big Eagle Lake fundraiser, “Smokin’ Pulled Pork Cook-Off”, featured live music with the ‘New Vintage’ band, a silent auction, raffles, and games. Ten PitMaster Teams — Backyard Smokers, BBQ Boys, Bison BBQ, Nagorski BBQ, Northern South, Pig and a Pint, Pig Pen BBQ, Smoken’ John, Wilk’s World Smokin’ Team, and Will Yum — worked through the night to create delicious delicacies and competed for top honors.
Take a Veteran Fishing Tournament inspires

Choir concert will be followed by ice cream
Many of us are looking forward to a performance by our very own Monticello Senior Center choir next week. The concert will take place in the Monticello Community Center’s Mississippi Room on Thursday, Aug. 22 at 1 p.m., and people aged 55-plus are welcome. Stages Theatre Company has announced the return of “The Dandelion Seed,” a Theatre for the Very Young production.
