Destination Nutley: Stuffed Pickle Sandwich Now at Violante's in Nutley

NUTLEY, NJ - Stuffed pickle sandwiches have been popping up sporadically for the past several years. They show up, gather a few fans, then quietly exit stage left. That may change.

In January of this year, Seven Brothers in Oceanside, NY, reintroduced the stuffed pickle sandwich. The small family deli's taste sensation has gone viral on social media, resulting in long lines for this lunchtime favorite. The stuffed pickle sandwich is still a hit.

The concept is simple, ditch the long roll, slice, and sometimes partially scoop out a large pickle, and build a sandwich from there.

Violante's Meat Market on Franklin Ave. recently introduced the Pickle Sandwich to their menu. Early indications are that it is garnering a great deal of attention.

Violante's is located at 105 Franklin Ave. at the corner of Harrison St. (former location of Vitiello's Bakery). It is open six days a week , closed Mondays.
