Nutley Verizon Store Host Annual Backpack Giveaway Sunday July 28

NUTLEY, NJ - Back for 2024: the Nutley Verizon Store is giving away backpacks as part of their 'School Rocks' event.

It's happening on Sunday July 28 starting at 1 p.m. until all the backpacks are given away. In 2023, every backpack was given away so arrive early.

Wireless Zone, the local Verizon store, is located at 211 Franklin Ave. at the corner of Centre St. in Nutley.

Due to the nature of the event, only one backpack can be given to each child, so be sure to bring every member of the family who needs a backpack.

The event in Nutley is part of a nationwide promotion. Upon getting your backpack,be sure to check inside to see if it contains a golden ruler.

• 10 lucky students around the country will receive a backpack with a golden ruler keychain. Each of these students will receive $100 to purchase school supplies, and their school will receive a $1000 Amazon wish list buyout!

Why is Verizon doing this? On average, families spend about $890 on school supplies each year. 1 in 5 school-aged children live in poverty. To date, Verizon has given out 1.4 million backpacks across the nation.
