Car Fire in Underground Garage at Union Stop & Shop Sunday Night
UNION, NJ – An automatic fire alerted Union firefighters to the Stop & Shop at 1201 Stuyvesant Avenue on Sunday night. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fully involved vehicle on fire in the underground parking garage, causing heavy smoke. Union Fire Chief Greg Ricciardi said the store above was searched and evacuated. Firefighters stretched a hose to extinguish the fire and the sprinkler system activated, which helped smother the fire, he said. He said the business is expected to be closed until repairs are made to the sprinkler system. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. Shootings Near Clinton Hill Migrant Shelter Leave 2 Dead, 1 Injured
Two men died and a third man is in critical condition after a pair of shootings Sunday night near the emergency migrant shelter in Clinton Hill, according to the New York Post. A man in his 30s was shot in the chest and arm around 10:44pm in a park near Flushing Avenue and Steuben Street near the Brooklyn Navy Yard, according to police sources. Less than 10 minutes later, two men were shot outside of the Ryerson migrant shelter, police said. A 47-year-old man was fatally shot in the head, while another man in his 30s, was in critical condition after being shot multiple times. Read more about it at the New York Post.
