WWE SummerSlam 2024 is set to electrify Cleveland, Ohio, on August 3rd with one of the most anticipated and intricately crafted cards in recent years. , SummerSlam promises to be both memorable and significant as we head towards WrestleMania 41. This year’s card has been streamlined compared to previous years, with fewer matches but a focus on compelling stories and high-stakes drama. The smaller lineup allows for more depth in each rivalry and gives performers a chance to shine without competing for attention with multiple storylines.
Last month, my predictions for Money in the Bank were spot-on with a 4–1 record, proving my expertise in WWE forecasting. Here’s a breakdown of the SummerSlam matches and my predictions:
Liv Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley (Women’s World Championship) This rivalry has captivated fans, making Liv Morgan’s quest for revenge compelling and increasing Rhea Ripley’s demand. The dynamic between Morgan and Ripley, with Ripley’s recent off-time adding fuel to the fire, has rekindled fan interest in Morgan. Shades of this rivalry reminds me of a 1990s teen drama with the addition of Dominick Mysterio being stalked by Liv Morgan. I predict Liv Morgan will retain her title, with a surprising twist as Dominick Mysterio turns on Ripley.
2. Logan Paul vs. LA Knight (United States Championship) This match seems like a foregone conclusion. LA Knight is poised to end Logan Paul’s reign and claim the United States Championship. A loss for Knight would be detrimental to his momentum, akin to Damien Sandow’s missed opportunity. I’m confident LA Knight will emerge victorious.
3. Sami Zayn vs. Bron Breakker (Intercontinental Championship) This match is one of the most unpredictable on the card. If WWE continues to build Sami Zayn as the underdog champion, he will win. However, if they see Bron Breakker as the future face of the Intercontinental division, Breakker will come out on top. I lean towards Bron Breakker winning, setting up a fresh era for the title.
4. Bayley vs. Nia Jax (WWE Women’s Championship) The build-up for this match had a rocky start, but WWE has finally found its footing. The focal point of this story is Tiffany Stratton, who holds the Money in the Bank briefcase. While fantasy booking might suggest Jax winning and Stratton cashing in immediately, I predict Bayley will retain her title after a fierce battle, with Stratton cashing in shortly thereafter.
5. CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre (Special Guest Referee: Seth Rollins) This highly anticipated clash will finally see CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, and Seth Rollins in the ring together. With Punk having made enemies of both Drew and Seth, I expect Drew to win this match. Rollins may reluctantly count the pinfall, adding tension to the ongoing rivalry.
6. Damian Priest vs. Gunther (World Heavyweight Championship Match) As the famous John Cena quote goes, “My time is now.” Gunther is set to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. While Priest has had a respectable run, Gunther’s presence and threat level make him the ideal choice for the future of the championship. I predict Gunther will claim the title.
7. Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa (Undisputed WWE Championship) SummerSlam will continue the Bloodline saga with significant implications. While the possibility of Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman returning looms, I believe Cody Rhodes will retain his Undisputed WWE Championship. Reigns’ return may be on the horizon, but not just yet. I predict Rhodes will emerge victorious and move on to new challenges. However, I do predict that we will hear from Paul Heyman on this night.
SummerSlam 2024 will feature a rare mix of veteran talent and emerging stars. With this card, WWE sets the stage for exciting developments as the company looks ahead to its future, including upcoming ventures like the anticipated Netflix move in January 2025.
