Olympics bound! Nyack's Charlotte Buck is going back to the Olympics! She is once again competing with the United States' women's rowing eight-person team, which is slated to compete at 4:50 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3. Reporter Eugene Rapay caught up with her as the team practiced in Italy, and with her family, friends and fellow rowers in Rockland. Find the story here.

North Rockland Olympics journey, via Ireland: Eric Favors, state champ in shot put from his North Rockland High School days, heads to Paris to compete for Ireland. He's a dual citizen and Ireland's first shot putter to compete at the Olympics in 30 years. Read about Favors here.

ICYMI food news: Let's catch up on some of Jeanne Muchnick's Rockland food tips. The Ciao Bella sandwich at Scott & Joe in Nyack was a recent "Best Thing I Ate" tip. Find out what to need to know before you go to the little cheese shop on South Broadway here. Plus, Pearl River has its own version of the pickle sandwich! Find out where to get it here.

Coming up: Rockefeller Institute holds hearings this summer to hear how New York should disperse nearly $25 billion in state "Foundation Aid" formula schools. But there's no Rockland hearing, nor even one in the Lower Hudson Valley. So state Sen. Bill Weber will hold a public discussion on the topic from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 29, at SUNY Rockland Community College's Cultural Arts Center. The senator's office said verbal testimony will be shared with Rockefeller Institute in a letter; you can share written comment for the Rockefeller Institute Foundation Aid Study here.
