Dogs Allowed Back Onto Norton Point
Man’s best friend will be allowed back on Norton Point this summer. The Dukes County Commission Wednesday approved Edgartown’s request to allow dogs on parts of the beach free of shorebirds as long as they are on a leash or lead. The decision is a reversal of the town’s previous policy and will serve as a test to see if dog owners can safely recreate on Norton Point without flustering any of the area’s protected shorebirds.
Recycled art to be put on display at Mattapoisett Public Library
MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett sustainability partnership will host its third annual RE-ART show from Aug. 27 to Aug. 31 at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library. “Recycling has led to the emergence of an artistic movement inspiring many artists to transform waste such as paper, cardboard, wood, glass, bottle caps, plastics, cloth, metals and rubber into works of art,” read a press release.
