There were a few surprises when the Lions announced their initial 53-man roster, first of which was that it only contained 52 players. A couple of surprise cuts start right at the tight end position. Both Shane Zylstra and James Mitchell were let go. Most figured Zylstra would make the roster as the third tight end. Sticking with pass catching, Donovan Peoples-Jones was a player most didn’t think had any chance of getting cut when training camp started, but after a training camp that didn’t see him flash very much he was let go.

This marks the Titans' third consecutive season opener against the Wolverines, who are ranked 4th in the Great Lakes region. Coach Guy Murray expresses optimism about potential improvements, highlighting strong returning runners like junior Joshua Otten, who excelled last season, and sophomore Christopher Russelburg, who consistently ranked high on the team. This year, the Titans possess a roster of 20 athletes, including eight upperclassmen, as they aim to build upon their preseason ranking of 10th in the Horizon League.

Artist Ricky Weaver joins Stamps School faculty
Image-based artist Ricky Weaver will join the Stamps School of Art & Design faculty in the fall of 2024 as an assistant professor of art and design. She will begin teaching in the Winter 2025 semester. She is currently an associate professor at ArtCenter College of Design and Co-founder for The Institute for Black Girls in Film and Media in Pasadena, California. Born and raised in Michigan, Weaver earned a BFA from Eastern Michigan University and her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Grand River Construction Completed In City Of Wixom
A big construction project has largely wrapped up in the City of Wixom. The Road Commission for Oakland County, in partnership with the City of Wixom, has completed the project on Grand River from Napier Road to Wixom Road. It says the $5.4 million project, which began April 1st, has significantly improved the safety and functionality of the heavier-traveled road.
