Record-breaking temps for parts of the High Plains
Starting the morning with temps in the 60s and 70s across the High Plains. The trend remains the same as last week as temps will once again increase into the 90s and 100s this afternoon. We will see a Heat Advisory that will be in effect for southeast parts of the area until 8 PM. Temps could exceed or feel hotter than 105. Be sure to stay hydrated out there and take breaks in the shade. The heat dome remains over Texas, therefore, the heat wave will continue. Expect more days of 100° weather. As a matter of fact, we could see a record of the highest consecutive day of temps at 100 or greater for us in Amarillo. The number to break is 8. For us, we already had 3 starting on Friday and my forecast calls for 100s to continue into Saturday. Additionally, we have had 26 days already of triple-digit temps in Amarillo. Record-breaking temps will start today for parts of the Texas Panhandle.
