FORT WORTH, Texas — When Fort Worth Pastor Ryon Price spoke at Tarrant County Commissioner's Court on July 2nd, he had no idea it would land him in hot water. He is a regular who signs up for public comment. But this time, Pastor Price went 8 seconds over the three-minute limit. That led to him being held in contempt of court.

LSB Midseason Community Prospect Rankings — #13
Congratulations to Anthony Gutierrez, who won the voting to be named the #12 prospect in the LSB Midseason Community Prospect Rankings with a little over 20% of the vote. Because there has been a history of vote-spamming shenanigans in the rankings, I used Google Forms for the last couple of community rankings, and it worked out well, so we will use it again. You will need to include your LSB user name when you vote. If you don’t have an LSB user name, you need to use some sort of identifier. While this won’t eliminate the possibility of vote spamming, it will make it harder.
Dallas Office of Arts and Culture Seeks Volunteer Panelists to Influence Arts Funding
In a move that's part community engagement, and part quality assurance, the Office of Arts and Culture (OAC) is on the hunt for volunteer panelists to help steer the direction of arts funding. This is not your typical rubber-stamp committee. These volunteers will have a significant say in which artists and organizations get a slice of the taxpayer pie. And we are not just talking pocket change; panel reviews impact a hefty 70 points out of a possible 100 that an applicant can score.
'Young Man's Dinner' at Dallas restaurant serves as mentorship program
DALLAS — If there is a recipe for success, Dallas restaurateur Bob Sambol hopes it is one he can share again and again with Dallas youth who might otherwise think their own prosperity is as out of reach as a proverbial silver spoon. That's why, along with Mark Jones...
The KXT Local Show: Alex Irish, Rafa, Sheprador
Thursday was a surprisingly tame summer day in North Texas. (Yes, it was still 92 degrees; yes, you have to skew for Texas standards.) But we made up for it with a lot of new heat this week. Dallas indie-folk/Americana duo The Half Guided Hearts is back with its first...
156/Silence Reveal "Better Written Villain" [Single Review]
The Pittsburgh-based band 156/Silence is at it again with their new single: "Better Written Villain". This new release might arguably be the best thing 156/Silence has ever released. Following similar vibes to "Unreasonable Doubt", which was released in April of this year, and sounding similar to Varials (hailing from Philadelphia so it must be something in that Pennsylvania water), the track is a certified banger from start to finish.

Ransomware Has Outsized Impact on Gas, Energy & Utility Firms
When ransomware targeted the city of Dallas, Texas last year, it took down city services, the municipal water utility's ability to bill and read meters, and emergency services. The city required more than a month to bring all its systems back online. Dallas is not alone. In 2023, two-thirds of...

Message to Black consumers in the wake of major procedural changes looming in real estate transactions
(Special to The Dallas Examiner) – In the near future, the home buying process will undergo significant change, particularly in the dynamics between homebuyers, sellers and the real estate agents facilitating the transactions. These changes, stemming from a potential court case settlement, will redefine how home sellers compensate agents for the buyers of their home. The National Association of Real Estate Brokers wants to assure Black families and individuals that our realtists, who often represent buyers, will continue to offer exceptional advice and service. These changes could potentially affect the affordability and accessibility of homeownership for Black families, and NAREB is committed to mitigating these impacts.
