National EMS Academy hosts traditional EMT class in Cenla
ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The National EMS Academy hosted one of its traditional EMT classes on July 15. The traditional EMT program is a hybrid course that allows students to complete the academic elements of the course online, and they will spend approximately 70 hours in a classroom learning hands-on skills.
Family of Boeing whistleblower from Pineville speaks out
ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The family of John Barnett, a former Boeing employee who was from Pineville, say they want to keep his message alive. Rodney Barnett, his brother, and Vickie Stokes, his mother, are speaking out in support of John, who died on March 9 from “self-inflicted” injuries, according to the Associated Press.

Blood donation centers see shortage during high-demand summers
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - During summer, blood donations drop by 20 percent. Regional director of LifeShare Lake Charles Shawn Melancon said, “The summers are always a difficult time for us; we always need donations during the summertime. The demand increases, the usage increases, but unfortunately, donations decrease. So, we need to try to get people to come out and donate. During the summertime, we are in the middle of hurricane season, so that can cause an additional layer of problems in the blood supply.”
