Oakland Mayor’s home raided by FBI

The home of Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao was raided by agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigations on Thursday morning, according to reports.

CBS News , citing sources familiar with the matter, reported that Thao’s home on Maiden Lane in the city’s Lincoln Highlands neighborhood was raided at around 5:30 a.m.

In a statement to ABC7 , the FBI said it was “conducting court authorized law enforcement activity on Maiden Lane. We are unable to provide additional information at this time.”

The reason for the raid was not made immediately clear. It also was not shared what agents were seeking at the residence or if they seized any property.

FBI agents were still at the home as of 9:45 a.m., local time, with news crews watching from nearby.

Mayor Thao’s office has not yet commented on the situation.
