( KRON ) — Over 150 people are set to lose their jobs as a result of the Hilton Oakland Airport Hotel closing . According to state filings, 152 workers will lose their jobs due to the permanent closure of the hotel located at One Hegenberger Road on the city’s troubled Hegenberger business corridor.

The hotel, which has been in operation since 1968, confirmed to KRON4.com earlier this week that it would be closing on or about Aug. 28. The Port of Oakland, which operates the San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport, told KRON4 it received notice of the hotel’s closing from Park Hotels & Resorts.

"We understand that the hospitality sector continues to be negatively impacted by larger economic trends post pandemic, and as the owner of this site the Port will be seeking the best Port use for this property moving forward," said the Port in a statement. "The Port will work with the facility operators and the City of Oakland about assistance that can be offered to employees who might be affected by this closure."

The Port has yet to provide any reason behind the closure. However, several businesses in the area, including In-N-Out , have closed in recent months, many of them citing high crime and public safety as an issue.
