An Oakland rapper was shot and killed during the grand opening of her new beauty supply store this past weekend.

On Saturday (July 13), rapper Tan DaGod was shot multiple times in the vicinity of the Glamor Beauty Supply store, located on Telegraph Avenue in the city’s downtown district. According to reports, Tan DaGod had just gotten into a “dispute” with someone outside of the store around 5 p.m. when a man wearing a hoodie walked up and started shooting, striking Tan DaGod and another person multiple times.

While the other victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive the shooting, Tan DaGod succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead, leading a number of the rapper’s associates and fans to mourn her death on social media.

“The violence is beyond understanding the hurt the pain the trauma has made a forever lasting impact,” veteran Oakland artist Mistah F.A.B. wrote in a post acknowledging Tan DaGod on social media. “I will always remember you as a hustling a** go getter, with a world of ambition, drive and courage and a heart big as TEXAS!!!!” he added.

Tan DaGod has released multiple songs this year, the most popular being “That’s My Ex Pack,” a song in which she raps about murdering her ex-boyfriend. The track, which was released several months ago, currently has over 40,000 views on YouTube.

In 2023, the rapper released two projects, My Ex Pack EP and her debut album, UNPRECEDENTED .
