Police first approached the tobacco store located on the 700 block of Oakland’s Willow Street on Thursday.

At about 9 a.m., OPD’s Alcohol Beverage Action Team (ABAT), Support Operations Division (SOD), along with agencies from Oakland Building and Code Compliance, conducted a joint investigation on the business.

During the investigation, officials found the following:

    • Large quantity of prohibited flavored products
    • Large quantity of unlawful out-of-state tobacco products
    • Large amounts of “a controlled substance”
    • Firearm

Police did not specify what the “controlled substances” were.

OPD did not make any arrests following the investigation, but it said charges and “potential eviction” would be handled by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.

Police said they will continue informing store owners of the dangers of selling tobacco products to residents under the age of 21. They believe doing so would “provide an opportunity to keep the youth in our communities safe while holding smoke shops accountable.”
