Virginia company laying off 80 people in Pa.
A company that offers maritime and engineering services is laying off 80 people. Truestone has filed a WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act) notice with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry informing the state of the layoffs. The positions are based at Tobyhanna Army Depot, 11 Hap Arnold Blvd. in Coolbaugh Township, Monroe County.
Italian Festival Organizer Says Event Will Not Happen
Organizers of a downtown Butler event are responding to issues raised by City officials by canceling the event. Last week, Mayor Bob Dandoy addressed Council about discussions he had with organizers for the Italian Festival scheduled for August 23rd, 24th, and 25th. The main issue was allowing set-up on Thursday which removes parking and negatively impacts businesses on Main Street.

BALTIMORE - Triple-digit temperatures in Maryland caused direct impacts on train travel.Temporary speed restrictions were put in place on Tuesday for Baltimore's Light RailLink, MARC Camden Line and Amtrak systems.Amtrak states extreme heat can impact the rail infrastructure. If a track gets too hot, it can develop a sun kink and overhead electrical wires can sag. Until 8 p.m., the Maryland Department of Transportation issued an excessive heat advisory for Baltimore's Light RailLink.
