    French Oak Bar & Grill in Oakland announces its closing for good on Saturday

    The French Oak Bar & Grill in Oakland announced on social media Thursday that it will be closing.

    The restaurant on Elm Street, which opened in the early 2023, announced "with a mix of gratitude and sadness" that it will close at the end of business on Saturday, Aug. 3

    "We want to extend out heartfelt thanks for your support and patronage. Your smiles, compliments and loyalty made every day special," the post on Facebook and Instagram read. "From the bottom of our heats, thank you for being a part of our journey."

    The owners, Nathalie and Loic Cadou, opened in Oakland after having "decades long success at La Mirabelle on the Upper West Side in New York City," according to press release announcing its opening.

    Patrons on social media lamented the restaurant's closing.

    One person on Instagram wrote, "So sorry to hear this. We always enjoyed the warm smiles we received whenever we walked in."

    "I am so sorry to hear this. Your burger is the best!" another wrote.

    "So sad to hear this news. You served top-notch delicious, quality food, plus your drinks and wine list were the best! The warmness and sincerity of all of you will truly be missed," wrote another on Facebook.
