Broward County, FL - Authorities are searching for a carjacker who abducted a toddler before leaving the child unharmed on a South Florida sidewalk.

The Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) is seeking information to arrest the man who carjacked a woman's SUV with her 3-year-old daughter inside.

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning in Oakland Park.

According to BSO, the carjacking unfolded after the mother of the child was involved in a minor traffic accident and exited her vehicle to exchange information with the other driver.

During this brief exchange, the suspect entered the SUV and drove away with the child still strapped in her car seat.

The mother, who wished to remain anonymous, reportedly told police that she "grabbed onto the car and yelled that my baby was inside, but he just kept driving. It was a nightmare."

The suspect later abandoned the vehicle and the child unharmed on a sidewalk.

Surveillance footage captured the incident, including the suspect using the victim's credit card at a nearby store.

BSO is asking anyone with information regarding the suspect to contact Broward Crime Stoppers.

A reward of up to $5,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest.
