Idaho Authors to Gather Today at State Capitol in Protest of ‘Harmful Materials’ Bill
Event host Authors Against Book Bans and more than a dozen Idaho authors will be in attendance for Saturday’s protest of House Bill 710. The gathering, called a “read-in,” will be held in Boise on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. on the steps of the Capitol at 700 W Jefferson St. The event will be free and open to all members of the public.

Nampa has a new director of development services. Mark Steuer was appointed by Mayor Debbie Kling to fill the role of senior director, the city announced Thursday via press release. Boise National Forest wildfire update
Boise, ID (CBS2) — Fire crews continue to battle several fires in the Boise National Forest. Crews are working on the Middle Fork Complex which is made up of the Bulldog, Nellie, and Anderson fires. Crews have constructed hand and dozer lines on the south and west sides of the Bulldog fire to protect property and structures near Crouch. Crews are planning to perform a strategic burn out operation overnight. Crews have completed the fireline from the river to the Lightning Ridge trailhead and are working on the lines to the west and south into the Pioneer Fire burn scar. Middle Fork Road is still closed just south of Lightning Creek.

On Friday, Built To Spill kicked off their tour for the 30th anniversary of There’s Nothing Wrong With Love in Boise. The indie rock group’s set was packed with deep cuts. The band played “The Source” for the first time in 11 years, “Cleo” for the first time in 21 years, “Fling” for the first time in 27 years (though Doug Martsch has performed it solo), and “Israel’s Song” for apparently the first time ever.
