First Alert Weather: Rounds of showers and thunderstorms expected this weekend
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Happy Saturday! It’s another day where you’ll want to hold on to the umbrella! First Alert AccuTrack Satellite and Radar is showing us cloudy with scattered showers and a few storms in west Alabama. All of the rain is pushing to the east-northeast. It is all thanks to a stalled front across the Southeast. This front will remain across our area for several days bringing us off and on showers with embedded thunderstorms. It won’t be a washout over the weekend, but you’ll need to have a Plan B that involves the indoors just in case lightning develops nearby. Temperatures this morning are close to average with most of us in the lower 70s. We are looking at a mostly cloudy to overcast sky today. The chance to see rain is up to 70%. The main threats today will be pockets of heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and lightning. We’ll have to watch out for an isolated flood threat. Just remember to never drive through flooded areas. Turn around, don’t drown! Today is the final day of Rock the South in Cullman, and you’ll probably want to grab the poncho to stay dry in case rain develops. Temperatures are forecast to warm into the mid 80s this afternoon with southerly winds at 5-10 mph. If you have any evening plans, we will likely cool into the 70s with scattered showers remaining possible.
