Eugene police respond to reported Santa Clara restaurant robbery
EUGENE, Ore. – Eugene police are currently investigating a reported robbery on Sunday morning at a Santa Clara area restaurant, according to the Eugene Police Department. EPD officials said that officers were dispatched at 6:09 a.m. on August 18 to a robbery at the Shari’s restaurant on Division Avenue. Two men wearing masks reportedly entered the restaurant and robbed it at gunpoint before they ran away from the scene on foot and headed westbound on Santa Clara Avenue. Officers established a perimeter in the area and brought in a K9 unit to assist in searching the area but the suspects were not found, according to police.

Lane County deputies investigating fatal shooting north of Coburg
COBURG, Ore. – Lane County deputies and other law enforcement personnel are investigating a shooting death at a property north of Coburg. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office said they heard a report of a shooting at a property on Coleman Road north of Coburg and east of Interstate 5 at about 3 p.m. on August 19. Deputies said they responded to the scene alongside Oregon State Police troopers, Linn County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Coburg Police Department officers. The LCSO said they arrived to find a man dead from a gunshot wound.

Fire and Rescue Calls: Vehicle hits bear, combine fire among responses during busy week
Editor’s note: This log is based on information submitted to the media by Philomath Fire & Rescue:. • 6:25 p.m. — Firefighters responded to a report of a small grass fire in a ditch between two houses in the 800 block of North 12th Street. No injuries or property damage were reported. The investigation determined that the fire was possibly ignited by an electrical spark issue from a nearby power pole.
