Lane County deputies investigating fatal shooting north of Coburg
COBURG, Ore. – Lane County deputies and other law enforcement personnel are investigating a shooting death at a property north of Coburg. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office said they heard a report of a shooting at a property on Coleman Road north of Coburg and east of Interstate 5 at about 3 p.m. on August 19. Deputies said they responded to the scene alongside Oregon State Police troopers, Linn County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Coburg Police Department officers. The LCSO said they arrived to find Derrick Adam McKee, 49, of Harrisburg, dead from a gunshot wound.

Editor’s note: This log is based on information submitted to the media by Philomath Fire & Rescue:. • 6:25 p.m. — Firefighters responded to a report of a small grass fire in a ditch between two houses in the 800 block of North 12th Street. No injuries or property damage were reported. The investigation determined that the fire was possibly ignited by an electrical spark issue from a nearby power pole. More than 7,000 lightning strikes recorded in Oregon, Washington in 48 hours during wild weekend
Oregon and Washington were hit with more than 7,000 lightning strikes over the past weekend, firefighters say. The lightning was produced by powerful thunderstorms that blew through the region on Saturday, Aug. 17. The lightning sparked multiple fires, including the 200-acre Wicked Drive Fire burning in Northeast Washington. Other fires were extinguished by firefighters before they spread, Northwest Interagency Coordination Center spokesperson Carol Connolly told KOIN 6 News. “Multiple initial attack fires have been reported and put out by Initial attack resources,” Connolly said.
