Alexandria takes another look at trying to fix neglected Duke Street park
A few years after looking for grants to revitalize John Ewald Park (4452 Duke Street), Alexandria is starting to put together plans to fix the somewhat neglected park. The park still sees active use for its open field and basketball court, but few would argue the park is on par with other outdoor recreation areas around the city. In a release, the city said it’s seeking community feedback on recommendations to improve Ewald Park.
KDES student Keivonn Woodard honored in TIME Magazine
Keivonn Montreal Woodard, a student at Kendall Demonstration Elementary School, was featured in the August 26 issue of TIME as one of six finalists for Kid of the Year 2024. Josefina Perez Named to Preseason All-Conference Team
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Saint Louis senior Josefina Perez was named to the 11-player Atlantic 10 Conference Field Hockey Preseason All-Conference Team, the league announced today. Perez, a native of Santiago, Chile, started all 16 games for the Billikens last season and led the team in scoring with 14 points (5G, 4A). Her five goals were tied for team-high honors and her four assists led the squad. Three of Perez's goals in 2023 came during A-10 play – UMass, VCU, and the game-winning tally against Lock Haven.
