    KBI: Investigation finds inconsistencies in Oberlin kidnapping

    OBERLIN, Kan. (KSNW) — The Kansas Bureau of Investigation says it has found inconsistencies in its investigation into Saturday’s Oberlin kidnapping . The KBI is also now reporting that a sexual assault occurred.

    On Saturday, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office asked the KBI to assist with the investigation into the report of a man being kidnapped and sexually assaulted.

    After further investigation, agents with KBI determined there were several inconsistencies in the statements made by the reporting party.

    “The community can be assured that no threat exists related to this incident,” the KBI said.

    The investigation is ongoing.
