Township receives $285,486 Community Development Block Grant
BRICK TOWNSHIP — The township council approved a resolution for a community Development Block Grant in the amount of $285,486. Council President Vince Minichino said, “This resolution authorizes the insertion of a grant in the amount of $285,486 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the 2024 Community Development Block Grant Program.”
Point Beach earns Silver sustainability status
POINT PLEASANT BEACH — The borough of Point Pleasant Beach has been awarded silver-level certification by nonprofit Sustainable Jersey in recognition of its efforts to promote sustainability in the municipality. According to the website for Sustainable Jersey, a municipality that has attained silver status has, “made significant progress in a number of categories toward sustainability and is a statewide and national leader.”

Litter targeted at school-wide beach sweep
LAVALLETTE — Last week, the students of Lavallette Elementary School picked up some 70 pounds of litter from the bay beach at their first-ever school-wide beach sweep. The school-wide beach sweep, was organized by Landon Hoberman, a sophomore at Point Pleasant Beach High School and former student at Lavallette Elementary School, in an attempt to help the students currently at his alma mater learn about how they can help keep their local environment healthy.
