Sorry, Ocean Springs. Tyler Florence thinks your award-winning restaurant is in Pascagoula

Maybe celebrity chef and Great Food Truck Race host Tyler Florence was concussed by one of the special guests.

Perhaps that would explain why during the introduction of Sunday night’s episode, which featured events filmed in Ocean Springs and Pascagoula, he had no idea where he was.

This week’s episode first featured the remaining competitors doing battle at The Shed , the award-winning barbecue restaurant in Ocean Springs. Fans of the restaurant and residents of Ocean Springs, though, might not have appreciated Florence’s introduction, where he welcomed the teams, saying they were “right here in Pascagoula, Mississippi.”

Five teams remained in the competition after last week’s Biloxi-based episode: Argentina’s Empanadas, Bao Bei, Fishnet, SOLA Po’boys and Wally’s Waffles. And after Florence roasted the teams for “ ripping off the good people of Biloxi ,” the portions were larger this time around.

Once cooking started, business picked up. All Elite Wrestling tag teams The Acclaimed and The Gunns were along for the ride at The Shed, the first stop Sunday night. In what they called the Tag Team Challenge, each team had 45 minutes to prepare a meal, but was handicapped because only one cook was allowed on each truck at a time, and each team had to switch to a new team member every five minutes while cooking.

The winners of the Tag Team Challenge was the Stripes squad of Argentina’s Empanadas, Fishnet and Wally’s Waffles. Each team received a bonus of $200 per team.

From there, the competition moved to downtown Ocean Springs for a lunch service and then the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Pascagoula for dinner. Along with the regular competition, the teams had the option to do battle in a side challenge based on the cooking of Delta Hot Tamales, with a $500 bonus for the team that sold the most tamales. Only three of the teams, though, took part in that battle: Argentina’s Empanadas, Fishnet and SOLA Po’boys. The winner of that challenge was Fishnet.

Overall, the winner of the Ocean Springs-Pascagoula episode was Argentina’s Empanadas, with $6,704 in sales. Finishing second was Wally’s Waffles ($6,402), while Fishnet came in third place ($6,135). SOLA Po’boys was eliminated from the competition.

Next week will feature the remaining four trucks in competitions filmed in Mobile.
