The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents:. TAILLIGHTS OUT: On June 10, Deputy Chris Haag was patrolling on Ruth Jackson Road, Bogart, about 9 p.m. when he observed a 2009 Econoline box truck with taillights that were not working. He made a traffic stop and discovered the driver, a 28-year-old Athens man, was wanted on a warrant from Oconee County. The man was taken to jail and a Glock pistol he carried was placed in safekeeping as he had no felony record.
Oconee County BOE sets 3 meetings to discuss millage rate for 2025
The Oconee County Board of Education has set up three public hearings to allow input on its recommendation of 14.25 mills for the fiscal year 2025 budget. The board reported through its public information office that the hearings will take place at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on July 1 and at 5 p.m. on July 8 at the Oconee County Schools Instructional Support Center on North Main Street in Watkinsville.

BOE Recommends Millage Rate, Announces Public Hearings
The Oconee County Board of Education is recommending a total millage rate of 14.25 mills for Fiscal Year 2025 and has set the dates for three public hearings. The public hearings on the millage rate will take place on July 1 at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and on July 8 at 6 p.m. Oconee County residents are invited to attend all sessions in the Instructional Support Center at 71 North Main Street in Watkinsville.
