A NLIHC study reports that a worker earning minimum wage in the state of Georgia would need to work 3.5 full-time jobs to be able to maintain rent for an apartment. For roughly 1.4 million people living in Georgia, a person earning minimum wage would need to work nearly four full-time jobs — or over 140 hours a week — to make monthly rent payments.

Laurens County drug trafficker sentenced to nearly 20 years in federal prison
A Laurens County man has been sentenced to federal prison after pleading guilty to drug trafficking charges. Ricky Rich, 42, of East Dublin, Ga., was sentenced to 228 months in prison after pleading guilty to Distribution of Fentanyl, said Jill E. Steinberg, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia. U.S. District Court Judge Dudley H. Bowen also ordered Rich to pay a $2,500 fine and to serve three years of supervised release upon completion of his prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.
Milledgeville Police Probe Mysterious Deaths of Two Individuals in Local Home
Milledgeville police are currently investigating the deaths of two individuals found in a local home. Officers responded to a call for a welfare check at a residence on the 200 block of Roberts Street early Thursday morning, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
