New Additions to Westgate Plaza
Construction is underway on a free-standing Starbucks building with a drive-through in Westgate Plaza on the southeast corner of 84th & Hascall Street. The 1960s-era strip center is going through a lot of change. Tom Kelly’s Bowling Pros Shop, a bakery and a barber shop have all moved out. That makes way for Westlake Ace Hardware to relocate to a bigger space in Westgate Plaza from its current location at 84th & Center.
Nebraska Football Countdown to Kickoff: No. 36 DB Blake Closman
The countdown to the start of Nebraska’s 2024 season is down to 36 days and in the player spotlight is Cornhuskers defensive back Blake Closman. The 5-foot-9, 195-pound cornerback is originally out of Elkhorn, Nebraska and was a standout safety and wide receiver. He eventually chose to walk on with the Huskers. After not appearing in any games during his first two years with the program, Crosman played in two games as a redshirt sophomore in 2023 against both Northern Illinois and Michigan. Closman will have an opportunity to see the field again in 2024 but likely won’t have any large roll, instead playing in select situations. Nebraska Supreme Court upholds law restricting both medical care for transgender youth and abortion
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A Nebraska law that combined abortion restrictions with another measure to limit gender-affirming health care for minors does not violate a state constitutional amendment requiring bills to stick to a single subject, a majority of the Nebraska Supreme Court ruled Friday. The state’s high court...

Big Ten rival uses gimmick trying to keep Nebraska Cornhuskers fans away
One of the craziest things about being a Nebraska Cornhuskers fan is that, on occasion, it feels like opposing schools fear you more than the actual team. Historically, Nebraska football fans have drawn quite a bit of ire, mainly because of how well they travel. Colorado has shown this off...
Dylan Raiola's been early to work, late to leave while blending well in Husker program
It fits the bill Dylan Raiola is wanting to be at the Omaha airport as a greeter and travel partner when five-star offensive lineman David Sanders arrives Friday afternoon. Just part of a day's duty for the high-profile quarterback. Yet to take a college snap. Yet to be named Nebraska's starter. Yet certainly the rare form of true freshman where it is beyond silly to talk around him as we usually do with rookies until they've made a play.
