National Weather Service warns of dangerous temperatures this week
Dangerous heat is on the way. An Excessive Heat Watch will be effective from 1 PM Monday through 8 PM Thursday. Expect heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees daily inside the watch area. The hottest days will likely be Tuesday and Wednesday with these extreme temperatures across the entire region.
Severe weather delays start of Sidney demolition derby
SIDNEY - Demolition derby fans were rushed for cover as a severe warned storm approached the Cheyenne County Fairgrounds on Saturday evening. Gusty winds, heavy rain and cloud to ground lightning delayed the start of the Rumble on the Rails Demolition Derby. Officials tell News Channel Nebraska they're aiming for a start time of 8 p.m., depending on the weather. If there's a lightning strike within five miles of the fairgrounds, it would delay the derby another 30 minutes.

Motorcycle driver dies after crashing into ambulance
PLEASANTON, Neb. — A motorcycle driver has died after authorities say he drove into the back of an ambulance. The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office says it happened just before 1:30 Saturday morning on Highway 10 north of Pleasanton. According to a news release, an ambulance was driving south transporting a patient to Kearney when it slowed to meet up with another ambulance. That’s when 29-year-old Jacob Kimberly of Holdrege crashed his motorcycle into the back of the ambulance. He died at the scene.
