AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar has announced the annual Sales Tax Holiday, set for August 9-11, 2024, allowing shoppers to purchase qualifying items tax-free. The tax-free weekend applies to most clothing, footwear, school supplies, and backpacks sold for less than $100, whether bought in-store or online from Texas-based sellers. "The Comptroller encourages all taxpayers to support Texas businesses while saving money on tax-free purchases," stated the press release.

A Texas Tech professor's nine-year effort research effort to develop an anthelmintic drug for parasite control in wild quail populations has gotten the final nod of approval from the FDA.
