Ogle County Sheriff’s Report: July 13-15, 2024
OREGON — On July 13 at 10:04 p.m. deputies were dispatched to the area of 100 E. Cedarholm St., Creston for the report of a pedestrian being struck by a passing vehicle. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Christian Stanbery, 22, of Creston, for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while license suspended. Stanbery was transported to the Ogle County Jail to be processed where he was additionally charged with aggravated DUI. Stanbery was released on a notice to appear court date Aug. 7 at 9 a.m. The pedestrian refused EMS and had minor injuries. Stanbery was additionally cited for expired registration and operating uninsured motor vehicle.

ComEd expects 80% of outages to be fixed by Wednesday
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Officials with ComEd expect 80% of outages to be fixed later this week following severe storms in northern Illinois that left thousands without power. “While we are assessing the storm damage and our region’s power infrastructure, ComEd crews are working around the clock to restore our customers,” said Vice President of Distribution Operations Mike Martin. “We expect to have 80% of our customers picked up by Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. and 99% of our customers by this Friday, July 18.”

Driver Charged With DUI in Creston After Pedestrian Struck
CRESTON - One man was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Saturday night in Creston. The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office say they were called around 11 PM to the area of 100 East Cedarholm Street for a person struck by a passing vehicle. The 22-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Driving While License Suspended. He was also cited for expired registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released with a notice to appear. The pedestrian refused EMS treatment and suffered only minor injuries.
Monday weather forecast in northern Illinois includes severe weather, heat, possible tornadoes
Weather in northern Illinois on Monday will include extreme heat, thunderstorms, high winds, and possibly large hail and tornadoes according to the National Weather Service. A heat advisory is in effect for Bureau, DeKalb, Grundy, Kendall, La Salle, Lee, Ogle, Whiteside and Will counties from 8 a.m. Monday through 7 p.m. Monday. Heat index values are expected to go as high as 105 to 110 degrees. The National Weather Service reminds residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles.
