During my recent visit to Ohio, I had the opportunity to dine at New Era. I sampled a variety of dishes including Tea Tree Ribs, Iron Plate Black Pepper Beef, Seafood Tofu Pot, Golden Soup Baby Cabbage, and Yangzhou Fried Rice. The ribs were a bit tough and scant on meat, but the beef and onions were a delightful combination. The seafood tofu pot and baby cabbage dish were a bit too light for my taste and seemed to blend together. The fried rice was pretty standard, nothing to write home about.
The restaurant was bustling, especially on the side with the bar, filled with locals enjoying their evening. There was also a quieter side, more suited for families with children. The staff was very helpful, which was a plus. I also tried my first Polish dish, Chicken Paprikash. The chicken was tender, falling off the bone, served with some form of pasta in a paprika-based sauce. It was delicious! Some patrons mentioned Serbian comfort food, which I didn't get to try, but it's on my list for next time.
However, not everything was perfect. The restaurant could use a bit more cleanliness and the staff, while helpful, could improve their speed. The food was a bit overpriced for what it was, and the menu lacked interesting or ethnic dishes. Overall, my experience at New Era was average. It wasn't entirely satisfying, but it had its moments. If you're in the area, give it a try and form your own opinion.
