Recently, I stumbled upon a delightful dining spot called Hawkers Alley, a place that truly celebrates the art of fusion cuisine. Nestled in a cozy corner near OTR, this restaurant has quickly become a favorite with its unique blend of flavors and dishes. From Taiwanese salt and pepper chicken to Japanese Okonomiyaki, and an array of grilled skewers, each dish is a testament to culinary creativity. The tornado potatoes and banh mi with cucumber salad were standout dishes for me, each bursting with flavor and perfectly complemented by their house-made sauces, reminiscent of the vibrant tastes I enjoyed in Vietnam.
The atmosphere at Hawkers Alley is just as inviting as the food. The service is impeccable, making you feel right at home. During my visit, I indulged in their popcorn chicken seasoned with basil and salt, which was so perfectly seasoned it barely needed the accompanying aioli. The fried eggplant was another highlight, with its light, crispy exterior giving way to the soft, flavorful inside. For the main course, the chicken skewers - Satay, Lemongrass, and Cilantro/black pepper - were simply irresistible.
Hawkers Alley isn't just a meal; it's an experience. Whether you're a meat lover or just in search of a place that offers a fresh take on Asian cuisine, this hidden gem is sure to impress. The extensive selection of drinks, including various shochu and plum wine, rounds out what can only be described as a perfect dining outing. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!
