Siamese Cat's Blatant Aversion to Traveling to Ohio Is So On-Point

An adorable Siamese cat made their feelings very clear when their human parent told them it was time to travel to Ohio to see their grandma, and it's hilarious.

On July 18, 2024, TikTok user Merv the Cat (@mervethecat) shared a video of the adorable Siamese cat who seems to really hate one state. Take a look!

In a quick 20-second video , we meet Merv, a Siamese cat , who gets a very fast case of the zoomies after the mention of one word.

"Merv?" the dad says to the cat as he walks into the bedroom where the cat is hanging out. He turns the corner and Merv is sitting there at the window.

"We gotta go to Ohio to see grandma," he tells the cute cat. And the second that sentence leaves his mouth, something comes over Merv.

He makes that low grunge sound that cats have figured out how to do, except. It sounds like Merv said, "No, Ohio." Then, he immediately jumps off the windowsill.

He zooms into the other room, in full zoomie energy, and again lets out that weird noise that sounds like he's saying, "Ohio?!"

Dad finds Merv under the table and jokes that it's time for him to go "pack his underpants," the funny cat runs up to him sideways, making funny cat noises, and tells his dad that he's "mad."

People had a lot of fun sharing their reactions to this video in the comment section.

One shared, "I feel the same way when I have to go to Ohio."

Another added, "My grandmother lives in Cleveland and that is the only reason I got to Ohio."

Someone wrote, "I’m in Ohio and don’t want to come back every time I leave."

A TikTok user joked, "Strict laws in Ohio require underpants."

One shared, "Merv is huge mad."

Another wrote, "He really doesn’t like Ohio."

Someone else joked, "To be fair to Merv, who wants to go to Ohio?"

Why Do Cats Get the 'Zoomies?"

According to Hill's Pet , cat zoomies are pretty common and there are three common explanations for why they suddenly have a chaotic burst of energy: sleep, hunting, or bathroom.

"Cats often get the zoomies after a long snooze. Because cats sleep much of the day in order to conserve energy (your feline friend can sleep anywhere from 12 to 16 hours a day), when they're awake, they're really awake," the experts explain. This means, their zooms after a nap just kind of helps to wake them up.

The other reason is cats' hunting instinct and a good dose of imagination. "Sometimes it may seem as if your cat is chasing nothing when, more than likely, they're pursuing imaginary prey," Hill's Pet explains.

And the third reason is bathroom issues that might cause that burst of chaos. "Many cats seem to take a victory lap after using the litter box. Some cats run like crazy after they've had a bowel movement, particularly if it was uncomfortable," the site explains.

If your cat is doing zoomies that look different than they typically do (like running in circles or meowing strangely), it's always a good idea to check in with your vet.
