BOSTON HEIGHTS — The Village of Boston Heights has been awarded $885,000 through the Ohio Demolition and Site Revitalization Program for the abatement and demolition of the deteriorating Norwood Inn on Dean Memorial Parkway, State Rep. Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) and State Senator Kristina Roegner announced today.

The Ohio General Assembly and Governor Mike DeWine established the program to encourage economic development in areas hindered by contamination or vacant, dilapidated structures.

“While once a vibrant hotel, the Norwood Inn has become a blight on the Village of Boston Heights and other Northern Summit County communities,” Roemer said. “By tearing it down, the area will be better prepared to welcome new businesses and opportunities.”

Mayor Ron Antal of Boston Heights highlighted the significance of the project for the area’s growth.

“As the gateway to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the Village of Boston Heights is taking significant steps toward modernization and economic growth. The removal of this large, dilapidated hotel paves the way for new amenities and future development,” Antal said, noting the partnership with Roemer, Roegner, and the Summit County Land Bank.

Since its inception, the Ohio Demolition and Site Revitalization Program has awarded over $233 million for more than 5,000 demolition projects statewide.
