Zyaire Lewis casualty of college closure opens recruitment

    2024-05-03

Zyaire Lewis of Akron Buchtel High School under head coach Bryan Williams was one of many student athletes who had to reopen recruitment due to the College he chose for commitment shut down without a formal notice for academics and football.

Notre Dame College is the school Lewis entrusted his services to, the institution is a small catholic university located in South Euclid, Oh, according to the schools press release was due to declining enrollment and and rising cost just to name a few reasons.

Terri Bradford Easton who is chair of the board of trustees for the school stated, "Throughout this long process, we evaluated every possible option to continue the mission of Notre Dame College," according to the schools press release.

"The head coach called me and just said I hate to tell you this but the school will be closing due to lack of funding," said Lewis. That would be a very unfortunate phone call to say the least.

Lewis just finished up his prep career at the annual OHSFCA North South All-Star game held this past weekend at Massillon Paul Brown Tiger Stadium playing an impressive game when it was his time.

Speaking with Lewis he stated the Otterbein College and Judson university have interest in his services as of right now and with spring football here its time to get into the swing of things with a program.

What Lewis brings to the field of play, "Passion, speed and the willingness to all I can to help my team win. I'm a dog on both sides of the field," said Lewis.

Lewis is just looking for an opportunity to play at the next level as a student athlete.
