Wilson Football Factory adds extension to plant in Ada, Ohio and extends partnership with NFL

Ada, OH- Wilson Sporting Goods has updated facilities in the buckeye state to manufacture game balls for the NFL, extending their partnership that has lasted since 1941, one of the longest in sports history, the Wilson football has scored every point in the NFL in that time span.

Every football has been hand made since 1955, now adding this 80,000 square foot facility will allow even more production, a team of 150 employees can put out 700,000 balls each year according to data from Wilson Sporting Goods.

"It all starts right here from the first cut all the way through the sewing, stitching, lacing, turning," said Derek Gibson an employee for Wilson Sporting Goods told Taylor Bruck of Spectrum News 1.

With the new facility located next to the older one it will add to production being 2 times the size of the previous building, which will also have product testing, ball customization adding Wilson product break in process.

"I am very excited, It's one of the proudest moments I've had in my career, Again I've been coming here forever. And to be able to give them the certainty that this investment in this building gives this community for the next 20, 30, 40 years feels really great," said general manager Kevin Murphy speaking to Taylor Bruck of Spectrum News 1.

I know for many who did not know that it is hard to believe one of the world's top sports makes the game ball right here in Ohio.
