    Mike Vrabel, Walsh Jesuit alum returns to Northeast Ohio

    Cuyahoga Falls, OH- Mike Vrabel has returned to his football roots as a coach and personnel consultant with the Cleveland Browns.

    Vrabel started his playing days at Walsh Jesuit High School a Catholic college preparatory school located in Cuyahoga Falls a suburb of Akron, Ohio graduating in 1993.

    "I think that's where the foundation was laid in that education there, the community at Walsh and everything that it provided me as I went on to Ohio State and ultimately the NFL," said Vrabel during Browns practice press conference.

    After high school Vrabel went on to star at The Ohio State University (1993-1996) playing defensive end, being named consensus first team All-American in his senior campaign, also being inducted into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame. Vrabel finished his college career with 37 sacks and 197 tackles.

    Vrabel was drafted in the third round of the 1997 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 91st pick playing three years then moving on to the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs where he finished his playing career and a 3x Super Bowl Champion.

    Moving on to coaching Mike had several stops before landing the head coaching gig with the Tennessee Titans where his best year was in 2019 qualifying for the AFC Championship game ultimately loosing to the Kansas City Chiefs, he was eventually let go by the Titans after the 2023-24 season after going 6-11.

    Vrabel won Associated Press Coach of the Year after the 2021 season.
