Ojai Roots Works on A Farm Shop

Ojai Roots , a farm known for its regenerative practices, seems to be working on opening a farm shop called Uva at Ojai Roots at the former Tipple and Ramble wine bar on 315 N Montgomery St. , according to a recent liquor license application.

Moreover, three weeks ago, one of Ojai Roots’ Instagram followers commented on a post asking, “Are [you] opening a shop or cafe on Montgomery?“ To which they replied, “Yes – we’re working on opening up our farm shop!”

The “42 – On-Sale Beer and Wine – Public Premises” license they applied for is issued to bars and taverns where food service is not required, so perhaps there will be a wine bar or wine tasting element to the new store.

Ojai Roots first began in co-owners Reiana Onglengco and Evan Graham Arango’s backyard. The farm, AKA The Arbola, in downtown Ojai is home to Ojai Roots’ original vegetable market-garden, avocado orchard, two small Syrah vineyards, and several citrus and stone fruit orchards. Farther out neighboring Lake Casitas is The Ranch, which houses Ojai Roots’ vegetable greenhouse, terraced gardens, and chickens. Paso Farms in Paso Robles is the farm’s furthest branch. It’s the primary home to Ojai Roots’ cattle herd and is planted with vineyards and an olive orchard.

In the past few years, the team has added a farm box delivery service with weekly and monthly subscriptions. Through their online store they also sell a variety of candles, soaps, and 100% California extra virgin olive oil – grown, harvested, and pressed on site at the Paso Farm. Perhaps we can expect to see some of these items at Uva?

The owners of Ojai Roots did not immediately respond to WNLA’s request for comment. An opening date for Uva has not been announced.
