Sunday will be the hottest day of the weekend and week ahead across the Inland Northwest, with temperatures ranging between 100 and 110 degrees. Spokane's forecast high on Sunday is sitting around 105 degrees, with Coeur d'Alene following close behind at 103. Down south, Lewiston will be reaching even more dangerously hot conditions with a daytime of 112 expected in the LC Valley. Fire Restrictions Tighten in Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest
Fiery conditions have prompted the Forest Service to take swift and decisive action. Effective Saturday, July 20, the Forest Service shall impose Stage 2 Fire Restrictions. Campfires are largely prohibited across the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. This includes "developed campgrounds and designated wilderness areas," according to a Forest Service press release.
Fire near State Route 20 prompts Level 1 (Be Ready) evacuation orders
TWISP, Wash. — Level 1 (Be Ready) evacuations have been ordered due to a fire burning near State Route 20. The fire was reported to firefighters around 1 p.m. and is currently active in the vicinity of State Route 20. Evacuation orders are in effect for the area east of Upper Beaver Creek, Frazer Crossing Road and Twisp. The fire called the Frazier Fire is estimated to be 175 acres and has a dozer line around it.
