STEHEKIN — The Pioneer Fire burning in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest has grown to 29,994 acres, with containment remaining at 14%. Northwest Incident Management Team 3, led by Incident Commander Lonnie Click, assumed command of the fire operations at 6:00 am. Fire Restrictions Tighten in Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest
Fiery conditions have prompted the Forest Service to take swift and decisive action. Effective Saturday, July 20, the Forest Service shall impose Stage 2 Fire Restrictions. Campfires are largely prohibited across the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. This includes "developed campgrounds and designated wilderness areas," according to a Forest Service press release.
