Coming soon, Sun City and Okatie residents will be able to enjoy a maple bacon doughnut while waiting for their appointment with a dental hygienist.

Construction for a new retail complex in Okatie will be complete by the end of the month said Vonnie Majewski, founder of VM Real Estate and the leasing agent for the newest quad of storefronts. The Shoppes at Okatie Village, located at 201 Okatie Village Drive near the intersection of SC 170 and US 278, will sit next to the Wells Fargo Bank and across from Food Lion. The building will be 9,911 square feet with ample space for patio dining areas and parking.

Four new retailers are set to move in once the building is complete. Parlor Doughnuts, a nationally-renowned craft doughnut and coffee shop famous for their layered doughnuts but will be adding its first location to the Beaufort County market. They have two other locations in South Carolina. Other tenants include Beaufort County’s second Omelette Cafe , a large dental group and a Fleet Feet running shoe store.

This will be the first phase of the retail expansion on Okatie Village Drive, according to Majewski. She said that the real estate company is also currently working to finish up the plans and permits for a “Phase 2” retail establishment in an adjacent lot.
