OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – KFOR is now officially recognized as a part of state history.

75 years ago, television arrived in Oklahoma when WKYTV became the first TV news station in the state.

This week, News 4 was given recognition with a historical marker to be placed in front of its new facility. According to station leadership, the lengthy process has been reviewed, verified and accepted by the Oklahoma History Center.

The milestone for News 4 is set to come full circle after the marker and cast are constructed with the hope to have it installed as celebrations continue during Oklahoma’s News 4 75th anniversary year.
