Seven Oklahoma restaurants were recently honored for their exceptional wine service as winners of the Wine Spectator 2024 Restaurant Awards.

The five Oklahoma City and two Tulsa restaurants named to the list are among 3,777 dining destinations from all 50 states in the U.S. and more than 75 countries internationally recognized as the world’s best restaurants for wine.

Since 1981, the Restaurant Awards have focused exclusively on restaurant wine service, the only program to do so. Restaurants are assigned awards on three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award, currently held by only 96 locations in the world.

“The restaurant industry is growing and thriving, with restaurant openings surpassing pre-pandemic levels for the first time. To take advantage of the uptick, restaurateurs are investing in their wine programs,” said Marvin R. Shanken, editor and publisher of Wine Spectator. “Restaurants that make wine a priority are what the Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards program is all about.”

In order to be considered for an award, a restaurant's wine list is evaluated for overall presentation and must also provide complete, accurate information, including vintages and appellations, or regions, for all selections, and the mandatory inclusion of producer names with correct spellings.

Oklahoma City's Wine Spectator 2024 Restaurant Awards winners

Five of the 2024 winners were Oklahoma City metro locations, three of which were repeat winners.

Both Boulevard Steakhouse , 505 S Boulevard in Edmond, and Thirty Nine Restaurant , 659 First Americans Blvd., inside the First Americans Museum have made the list repeatedly since 2022, while Flint , 15 N. Robinson Ave., inside the Colcord Hotel, returned to the list for a second year.

Oklahoma City newcomers on the list included The Chalkboard OKC , 1200 N Walker Ave., inside The Ambassador Hotel, and Vast , 333 W Sheridan Ave., inside the Devon Tower.

Boulevard Steakhouse and Vast were awarded the Best of Award of Excellence Distinction. Thirty Nine, Flint, and The Chalkboard OKC were recognized with Award of Excellence distinctions.

Tulsa's Wine Spectator 2024 Restaurant Awards winners

Tulsa took the prize for the longest standing restaurant on the list of winners from Oklahoma. Polo Grill , 2038 Utica Square, has made the list for a consecutive 24 years, denoting its consistent dedication to excellence in wine.

The Tulsa location of The Chalkboard Kitchen + Bar , 1324 S Main Street, inside The Ambassador Hotel, joined its Oklahoma City sister property as a newcomer to the list for 2024.

Polo Grill received the Best of Award of Excellence Distinction, while The Chalkboard Kitchen + Bar earned the Award of Excellence.
